Panama Wildlife Conservation is a wildlife conservancy dedicated to the study & protection of the biodiversity, animal species and their habitats, through the collaboration with local residents in Panama.

Green Macaw Conservation

Macaws are long-lived and have a slow life-history, they are critically endangered with less than 1000 animals left in the wild. Help these parrot populations to recover in Cerro Hoya.

Amphibian Conservation

The Harlequin toad is considered to be a critically endangered species and has been listed as being at risk of extinction in Panama. We monitor their population and develop activities to encourage their protection.

Sea Turtle Conservation

Alarmingly low numbers of sea turtles suggest that the species will not survive without coordinated monitoring and other programs. We work with local community to monitor nests, relocate eggs and develop workshops for local children.

Wildlife Surveillance

Trail cameras have become an increasingly popular tool for viewing wildlife, and are used to study activity and animal behaviour. We are deploying 40 cameras around Cerro Hoya to monitor Jaguars and their prey.

Our Mission

To promote the conservation of wildlife, its natural habitat throughout the geographical range of each species, as well as its peaceful coexistence with man, through research and conservation strategies.

Harlequin frogs

in Panama

The World Plan for the conservation of amphibians highlights the
need for research in populations of amphibians that are critically
endangered, especially in populations that persist even though
Chitridiomycosis is present. The National Plan for the conservation
of amphibians of Panama stresses a need for conservation research
and environmental education in species like A. varius, the Harlequin
frog.

Panama Wildlife Conservation is a non-profit organisation run entirely on private donations and grants. Supporting and developing conservation projects is challenging task. We are a group of biologists who donate our time and expertise to develop conservation projects in Panama. You can help us today.
